Retaining Walls

Retaining wall design and installation for homeowners in Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County. Whether you're managing a sloped yard, dealing with soil erosion, or looking to add defined levels to your outdoor space, a well-built retaining wall solves the problem and elevates the look of your property at the same time.

Retaining walls do more than shape a landscape — they hold back soil, manage elevation changes, and protect the areas around them. Because of this, proper construction is critical. When a retaining wall is built incorrectly, problems like shifting, leaning, or failure can develop over time. Our focus is on building walls that perform reliably for the long term.

We are NCMA-certified for segmental retaining wall installation and follow industry best practices on every project. That includes proper excavation, base preparation, drainage, reinforcement, and backfill methods designed to handle Michigan’s soil conditions and freeze-thaw cycles. We also install geogrid reinforcement within the wall system to anchor the structure into the soil behind it and stabilize the backfill. This added reinforcement helps the wall resist movement and maintain long-term structural integrity.

For larger or more complex walls, we work with a structural engineer to provide stamped drawings and ensure the wall is designed to perform safely and correctly. Whether it’s a smaller landscape wall or a large structural installation, our goal is to build retaining walls that are both visually clean and structurally sound for years to come.
